The Rogue and CR-V each have a single-engine that powers their lineup. The Rogue is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The CR-V uses a turbocharged engine, but it only results in similar horsepower, but less torque. Both engines are mated to continuously variable transmissions and the Rogue gains an advantage in terms of fuel efficiency on the road.
What makes the Rogue better is the drivetrain's versatility. All versions, even the front-wheel drive, include standard paddle shifters. It adds more response and performance advantages that you can feel and control. With the CR-V, you are at the mercy of the CVT.
Just because the Rogue is a compact SUV doesn't mean it doesn't have the advanced drivetrain characteristics of more expensive SUVs. Nissan's control system with drive mode selector offers individual control to each wheel, improving braking performance in corners and other driving situations.
The Rogue sets higher standards for passenger comfort compared to the CR-V. Front-seat occupants receive up to 25mm of additional headroom and more legroom. This is a result of the Rogue's more open cabin design. Rear passengers benefit from more shoulder room, which gives them a little more personal space and better comfort on long journeys.
The 2021 Rogue also comes with the enhanced ProPilot Assist system with Navi Link, a feature the CR-V does not offer. Other features offered in the Rogue but not in the CR-V include side knee and rear cushions, 360-degree camera, heads-up display, a Wi-Fi hotspot and many more elements.
